Working his way through school, he attended Montgomery College, Rockville, Maryland and received his A.A. in Business Administration.
He graduated in 1988 from the University of Maryland, College Park with a B.A. in Management and Consumer Studies.
After graduating college, he moved from Montgomery County to Calvert County in Southern Maryland in 1989.
