I have been representing buyers and sellers of Kona homes, condos and land since 1987. I specialize in the area around Kailua-Kona and Holualoa (from Makalei to Kealakekua, including Kalaoa and Keauhou), a small part of the aptly named "Big" Island of Hawaii. I was born and raised in Leicester, England, about 100 miles north of London. After graduating from the nearby University of Birmingham, with a degree in sociology, I traveled extensively through Europe, Asia and the Americas.

I finally reached the Kona Coast in 1977, when there was only one stop light in West Hawaii, and have lived here ever since. At first I worked on Kona coffee farms, in food and beverage in several restaurants and hotels, and as a technician at the NELHA Natural Energy Lab. I worked with Knutson & Associates for 16 years, as a salesperson and then broker (RB-15339), before opening McCourt Realty, Ltd. in 2004 - with my wife and business partner Liz McCourt (RS-54921).

Of the numerous new brokerage firms opened during that period when real estate was booming in Kona, we are one of the few to have survived as an independent company, while many others went out of business or were incorporated into one of the larger entities now dominating the market.
