Managers registered in Connecticut must complete a nationally-recognized course in common interest community management and pass the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM) Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) examination.
Upon registration with the state Department of Consumer Protections (DCP), applicants must also certify whether they have ever been convicted of a felony, regardless of the jurisdiction.
Managers seeking to register for the first time must also submit to a state and national criminal background check before they can successfully receive their certification.
