This celebrated and architecturally significant property in the heart of Boston's historic Back Bay was owned by India-based Taj Corp.
We saw an opportunity to reposition this 273- room luxury hotel and provide a well-articulated, clear vision for the future.
Through deep relationship development we understood the seller's perspective and were able to complete this complex cross-cultural transaction.
Eastern Real Estate formed a partnership to lead the acquisition of this landmark hotel.
Working closely with our partners, we created an efficient operating plan; renegotiated contracts with employee unions; built a redevelopment plan for common areas and guestrooms; and designed plans to leverage the underutilized rooftop deck.

This collection of 135 acres former industrial buildings at the junction of I-95/Route 128 south of Boston and within walking distance of the Westwood commuter rail station was ideally located to create a transit-oriented mixed use master-planned development.
Eastern Real Estate gained control of the defaulted mortgage, led the project acquisition and formation of a partnership with New England Development, Clarion and National Development.
The partnership constructed over 600,000 square feet of retail and restaurants to complement the 350 high-end residential units, more than 350,000 square feet of office space, a public park, 100 units of assisted living housing, and a 130-room hotel.
