Henderson Land Investment Company was created in 1979 by Stephen and Lee Henderson. They operated out of their home on US Route 36 near Saint Paris where Lee hand painted each real estate sign. That year they took their 6 rural listings, three children, and Stephen's field tile collection to the Champaign County Fair. In 1982 the building at 104 South Springfield Street in Saint Paris became available and they purchased it.
At the time interest rates were climbing and the real estate market was limping along. The people in Graham District were very supportive and they were on their way to becoming the full service Champaign County real estate company you now know. It wasn't until 1989 that Team Henderson took the plunge and decided to open a convenient location for their customers and clients in Urbana and on the east side of the county.
Their first Urbana location was on Monument Square where Duncan's Accounting Services are now located. From there, they moved to their second Urbana location at 970 East Route 36 sharing the building with Studio 36 owned by Susan and David Oelker.

As a conscious corporation we continue to hold the intension of being a beneficial presence in our community and on the planet.
When R. Stephen and E. Lee Henderson, co-owners of Henderson Land Investment Company, decided to renovate their Urbana location at 606 Scioto Street in 2007, Mrs. Henderson threw out the idea of turning an ordinary fabric awning into an energy-producing, money-saving awning.
What might have seemed like a futuristic idea eight years ago turned into reality last week when crews finished outfitting the building with 27 solar panels, 9 of which were used to construct a solar awning, while the other 18 were anchored to the roof.
