Garrett County Board of REALTORS, Inc. is comprised of REALTORS and Affiliate member service providers committed to providing professional service to buyers and sellers in and around Garrett County. The Garrett County Board of REALTORS, chartered in 1982, is a trade association representing more than 100 real estate professionals and one of the local boards of the National Association of REALTORS and Maryland REALTORS.

The National Flood Insurance Program will continue renewing or issuing new insurance for four more months under legislation overwhelmingly passed by the U.S. Senate today.
The bill, which cleared the House last week, is expected to be signed into law before midnight tonight, when the program expires.
Currently, the Garrett County Commissioners are exploring methods to balance the FY2020 budget that has an approximate $10.5 million shortfall as is.
The County requested and just received authority from the MD General Assembly this past session to raise the Accommodations Tax up to another 2%, from 6% to 8%.
REALTORS are different from non-member licensees in that they voluntarily subscribe to a strict Code of Ethics.
If someone believes that a REALTOR has violated one or more Articles of the Code of Ethics, they are free to file an ethics complaint alleging a violation(s) through any local board of REALTORS where the REALTOR holds membership, or participates in a REALTOR-owned/operated MLS.
In addition, REALTORS agree as a condition of membership to arbitrate contractual disputes and specific non-contractual disputes as provided for in Article 17 of the NAR Code of Ethics.
A real estate agent is a REALTOR when he or she becomes a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS, The Voice for Real Estate, the world's largest professional association.
The term "REALTOR" is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS and abides by its strict Code of Ethics.

The Garrett County Board of REALTORS gives reciprocity to non-GCBR members on a case by case basis to ensure that every REALTOR coming in from outside the area is keenly aware of their fiduciary duties to know and understand local zoning, land use, ordinances, disclosure requirements and other laws unique to our area that may affect the interest of their clients as well as the fact that we are a resort market and many of the homes for sale are also vacation rentals with rental customers in the homes.
