The State of Hawaii currently requires a 60 hour pre-license real estate course, and is considering going to a 120 hour course, due to the fact that Hawaii is in the bottom 20% of the nation for real estate licensing requirements.
1 initial three-hour class on the first Friday evening (to cover the time necessary for the 6 half-hour lunch breaks).
Finally, there is also a four-hour final exam on the Wednesday night following the last weekend of class.
After completing the required 60-hour course and passing the course final exam, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion, which is required to take the State Exam.
All applicants must complete the appropriate (salesperson or broker) Commission- approved Hawaii pre-license course before the date of the examination, OR apply for, and obtain a "Pre-licensing Education Equivalency - Real Estate" (refer to "EQUIVALENCY TO PRELICENSING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT").
Once the course has been successfully completed, and a Completion Certificate issued, the Completion Certificate is valid for two (2) years from the date of issuance.
The state requires that you spend a minimum of 60 hours on-line reviewing course materials and completing your course.
To be licensed as a real estate salesperson in the State of Hawaii, you must attend and pass an accredited real estate licensing course.
You must also take and pass the State Licensing Exam, make written application for your license and pay the appropriate fees.
As a salesperson you must "hang" your license with an existing brokerage firm and conduct your real estate activities under the supervision of the firm's Principal Broker or you may apply for your license and place it directly on "inactive" status.
Whenever there is enough interest to make it worthwhile, Jay will consider teaching an eighty (80) hour Broker Class in Kona or Hilo.
If you're interested in attending a live Broker class, Contact Jay and he can add your name to the list for any tentative upcoming classes.
The HI Real Estate Commission indicated that they are contemplating raising the current 80 hour requirement to 175 hours ~ Hawaii is in the bottom 20% of State requirements to obtain a Broker's License.
The proposed class would be conducted over three ~ 3 day weekends ~ Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. at a cost of $1,175 to include two texts, class & final exam.
